Like all creative industries, the film industry is a murky mirror of its zeitgeist, not only social and cultural, but also technological. Much of the great breakthroughs in the film industry are due to technological advances, whether it was adding sound or today's digital ability of doing almost everything. Where does this leave film? What is really important? The story?, the history?, the idea? Or the technique behind a camera?
